People make big, expensive decisions with what we publish. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.
Sources
We rely on primary sources wherever we can: government agencies such as USDA, FMCSA and state departments, official carrier policies, and public data. Every guide ends with a list of the sources we used, linked so you can check them yourself.
Fact, estimate or experience
- Fact: taken from a cited source.
- Estimate: a range, with how we arrived at it. Never presented as a quote.
- Experience: a personal story, shared with permission and labeled as one person’s experience.
We never invent statistics, prices, reviews or testimonials.
Reviews and updates
Every guide shows the date it was last reviewed. We recheck guides regularly, and sooner when rules, prices or schedules change. If you spot an error, tell us and we’ll correct it and note the change.
Independence and advertising
Life After Hawaii is independent. We may earn money from advertising, partner listings and mover referrals. Paid placements are always clearly labeled, and advertisers and partners never write or edit our guides. When you request mover quotes, we refer you to independently licensed movers; we are not a moving company.
